You already know the feeling, sometimes all too well.
You just don’t want to be around a certain someone who really bugs you. However, circumstances dictate that you must be in the presence of this person from time to time – perhaps you are related, or you work together. Maybe you just live in the same city, and that’s enough.
It’s bad enough when your nemesis seems blissfully unaware of how you feel, and acts as if you were bosom buddies. It’s even worse when your enemy is aware of your discomfort and, being just a wee bit evil, twists the knife in a little bit more every time you have to be within spitting distance of each other.
You may not even know each other personally, but you still loathe this individual and want to have nothing whatsoever to do with him or her. Maybe he represents everything you find vile and distasteful, perhaps she is everywhere and you have to deal with the fact that she exists.
Maybe you were once close, maybe never. Whatever the reason, sometimes you might feel like this town isn’t big enough for the two of you, or this continent either for that matter.
Looks like it’s time for some non-resistance!
Because you resist this person and her or his unpleasant energy, which is made even more unpleasant due to your resistance, the energy sticks to you like glue.
If you remember Pepe Le Pew, that amorous skunk who loved the ladies and assumed they felt the same way, you already have a good idea of what resistance looks like.
The person you’re in resistance to may even be perfectly nice. Just too perfect, or too sweet, or somehow annoying. There’s something, and you just can’t put your finger on it. Maybe she always wins, or your parents really like him.
So you resist, and the energy sticks.
That’s the funny thing about resistance. If you are in resistance to anything or anybody, that thing or that person will stick to you. You can’t shake them.
How to get out of this one? Stop resisting. Easier said than done, but once you become conscious of the fact that you may be in resistance, you can begin to let it go.
Drop it, cease needing to control it, forgive and forget, consider it water under the bridge. Let it roll off your back. Stop judging. Done, finito. After you do all of that, you get to get up tomorrow and do it again, to find this space of non-resistance, and give it a home within you. Oh yes, and find some amusement.
