Creating new pictures to live by

You might say that each of us is a camera.

The images you carry with you about your body, health, relationships, career, money, power, talents, value – are pictures you captured yourself, often unconsciously. Some of them were given to you – pictures about culture, society, religion, class, race, gender, are found in every nook and cranny in your daily life.

A picture says considerably more than words can, and does so instantly. Captured in one image are the emotions, challenges, fears, joy, and possibilities inherently present in a situation. A picture has great power.

You put your energy into the pictures you have. Where you focus is where you create. If you’re focusing on a positive self image picture, it will have a different effect on your life than if you focus on a negative one. What you create and your experience of it will change, as you are beginning from a different place.

Taking responsibility for your growth means taking a look at the pictures you’ve agreed to live by. Since you’re constantly living from pictures, it’s helpful to become conscious of which pictures determine what you’re able to create and have. How you see yourself and the world determines what you can create here.

We’re living in a time of clairvoyance. Everything is about seeing and being seen, creating new pictures to live by. What you see, you can create. If you can imagine the possibilities that can exist, even if they seem a long way off, you can create them.

Possibly you’ll find that the old pictures you’ve had, are no longer working. You might need to ask some deep, tough questions about whose pictures have been running your life, and then make choices about whether to keep them or make up your own. It gets messy when you do this, so be sure to give yourself permission to destroy what’s not working. If you want to have your own Renaissance, it’s up to you to get it going.

‘Renaissance’ is a French word meaning “rebirth”, which about sums up where we’re at right now. This time in our evolution on this planet is about renewing, becoming conscious, releasing the old, and creating new pictures to live by.

Between 1300 and 1600 the Western world was transformed. An extraordinary wave of artistic and cultural innovation shattered medieval society and brought European culture reluctantly into the modern era. This was the Renaissance. ~Medici

What happened during that Renaissance? People began looking outside to the world around them. No longer content to just accept the teachings of the Church, they began to explore for themselves, to expand human knowledge. The arts flourished; artists made incredible discoveries during this time. So did science and medicine, with earth shattering discoveries about the human body, the planet, the solar system. A new kind of freedom ruled, possibilities increased. So did upheavals; plagues, war, the burning of heretics.

Apparently this is how we humans have chosen to evolve. Lots of resistance to new ideas, over and over again. Fear and hatred of the new, the outsiders, those who are ‘not like us’. People with different names than us. Sound familiar?

The 21st Century Renaissance brings a different kind of evolution. It is the time to go within, to make great discoveries about the worlds within ourselves. When humans begin to gain greater command over their inner worlds, the outer world will change dramatically. This new Renaissance brings with it the opportunity to heal from the inside out, complete with dramatic changes in the arts, spiritual practices, scientific discoveries, human relationships, value systems, and too much more to name, as a result. People will begin to validate and use their psychic abilities for themselves.

What if, by doing all of this within, we can each help to create a world where peace, love, and a healthy planet are what’s real? This is a splendid new picture to live by.

The visionaries get to create the future

Everything begins with energy. An idea is energy, as is a vision. A strong image is a powerful thing. If you don’t believe me, go ask the advertising industry.

If you’re interested in influencing and changing the way people see things, and how they’ll act as a result, you’ll need a compelling vision or image to show them. People respond to imagery, and often do so unconsciously, emotionally, or instinctively.

You might have an original idea, a vision you are committed to, whether it’s your art, business, or a service you offer. Perhaps your vision is a new way to teach, heal, create peace on earth, or inspire people to think and behave differently. Maybe you have a vision for the future that isn’t a reality yet but you know it could be. You feel it deeply, and you have a passion for this vision. You are the only one who can bring your original vision to the world, so keep at it.

Some people are so inspired by the greatness of a true visionary that they work from this person’s vision, and find their own truth within it. This is a brilliant way that we influence and help each other continue to move forward. So again, if you have a vision of healing, peace, and love, we all need you to bring it forward.

I am a clairvoyant, and it’s my job to see energy, to read spirit. I see that every human being has free will and the power to create the future. This is far more interesting than making predictions, in my book. It’s also what we already do, as human beings – we create. We are evolving constantly, because we change, create, and grow.

You also have the ability to visualize, and to create what you see. So, with all this power to visualize, why not use it to actually create change? It’s up to each of us to do so – instead of waiting for others to step forward, why not you?

I would like to suggest that, beginning now, today, you start to create your new vision. Every second you spend seeing what you’d like to become, do, and have, is valuable. Imagine life as you’d like to live it. Imagine the world you want to live in. Be ready to change your own attitudes, as well as yourself. Change of any kind always begins with the spirit, it begins within.

No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit. ~Helen Keller

Living in a time of clairvoyance

I’m privileged to have met countless healers and psychics in my lifetime. They show up regularly, sometimes right at my front door.

The funny thing is that many of them are unaware of their special abilities, and of the great value of the resources that lie within them.

They might be convinced that they’re not very psychic or special, and as proof of this, point to their failures – if they were truly psychic, they wouldn’t make mistakes, right? Or they point to experts who’ve convinced them that what they know, feel, or see, isn’t real and can be explained away by one scientific study or another. So they doubt what they know. They invalidate what they are feeling, dismiss what they see. They don’t look, because it isn’t polite.

Some of them would never call themselves psychics, healers, or clairvoyants. They say that they’re not naturally psychic, because they didn’t come from a psychic family. Though there was this time that they felt this strange energy, and they sometimes know what’s going to happen before it does, and their gut instincts are never wrong…

It would certainly be nice to come from a family with the permission to be psychic, but doing so doesn’t make you any more psychic than the next person. You were born psychic, simply because you are human. Being psychic is a natural human ability.

The real question is, are you going to learn about and develop your abilities? Like  other talents and skills you have, the more you practice and use them, the better they work.

For example, if you have musical or artistic talent, you need to train and practice in order to develop it fully. Any talent you have needs to be used in order to develop. The same is true for your psychic abilities.

A word to the wise – what has been in the dark is coming into the light now. It’s difficult to hide anything these days – we are living in a time of clairvoyance. Seeing and being seen are on the evolutionary agenda, and You. Are. Here. You can rest assured that every lie will rise to the surface, everything that isn’t right will be seen, all that’s been hidden will come into the light.

This can include your own hidden abilities, talents, and knowledge. You can help the process along by deciding that you want to have these valuable resources working for you. They are already part of you, and they exist for you to discover, uncover, use and own. Your abilities as a clairvoyant, healer, creator, visionary – do no good to you or the rest of us if you decide to ignore them, deny them, or invalidate them. It’s the time to be courageous and own up to who you are and what you have. There has never been a better time to do so.

If you really want to become your own expert, you can. The greatest clairvoyant ability is the ability to see yourself, and the greatest psychic ability is the ability to know yourself. What can you lose if you decide to look, except for your illusions about who you think you are? What if you’re more than you expected?

Clairvoyance can help you to dream up your own reality

Have you ever had a dream that felt so real, it became real? When you woke up, for a split second all you knew was that dream reality;  perhaps it was preferable to what you actually had.

I had a dream like this that stays with me still. On my way to Spain in December 1990 for a two week holiday, I fell asleep on the airplane. I was exhausted, overworked, worried about my fashion business. Truthfully, I didn’t like being a fashion designer anymore and was ready for a big change. The economy was hitting the skids, and my own economy wasn’t doing much better. I needed to get away, so planned an adventure with a good friend.

In the dream, I was standing at the edge of a steep and scary cliff. I was terrified, afraid to fall, not seeing another way. Then a voice said to me, “go on, you can fly!”. There was no one visible, but I felt it was true, and took a leap. I flew away from that cliff, and it was a beautiful feeling. When I woke up, I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. I was ready to make a change. That dream was the beginning of a new vision for my life.

The true power of clairvoyance lies in being able to create a vision. If you can see it, in other words, you can create it. Creating your own vision for the future is far more interesting than waiting for someone else to predict it for you. It’s also scarier, because there’s nobody to blame if your vision doesn’t quite work out the way you expected.

If art school taught me anything, it was flexibility. More often than not, my finished paintings did not match the original vision I had when beginning them. Sometimes they were better, and sometimes they weren’t. New discoveries were made that wouldn’t have shown up any other way. Rather than any of this being a problem, an artist learns to go with it.

The beauty is in the discovery as one goes along, much like living life. The amount of control we each have is quite small, but the ability to invent, visualize, and create, is enormous. We have hardly scratched the surface of this magnificent ability that each of us has already, this clairvoyant ability.

Now, more than ever, we need capable clairvoyants on this earth. Fortunately, we are living in a time of clairvoyance, so they are showing up. It’s time to let go of the old pictures of what others declared was and always will be reality, and to create the new pictures.

Just because we currently live on a planet where war is prevalent, hunger is allowed to exist, and greed rules the day, doesn’t make any of this the whole reality of who we are as beings. These are choices, unconscious ones perhaps, what we need or want to experience as beings.

What would you like to see change? How does your planet Earth look to you, the one you would love to live on? How would you like to live and create? Perhaps you’re already working on your own vision of the future. But if you’ve gotten yourself caught in someone else’s ‘reality show’, you can disengage by creating a new vision. Begin to look for yourself and to share your new vision with others.

Why is clairvoyance so impolite?

When you were a small child, you may have been told to not stare openly at people, especially strangers, because it was rude to do so. You might have wondered what the big deal was – you were just looking, after all.

If you’ve ever been stared at by a baby, you know the feeling of really being looked at. And a child is very likely not judging you in the same ways that older people do when they look. She isn’t worried about your skin color, or what you are wearing, or what kind of car you’re driving. He doesn’t care about your economic standing, what neighborhood you’re from, or what school you went to.

A child has the permission that you may no longer have: permission to really look and see you. Children often have no judgment about what they are seeing, that is until some well meaning, ignorant, or frightened adult tells them that they aren’t looking correctly because they aren’t judging.

We are taught from our earliest days, how to judge others. We are taught who is good and who is bad, and what they look like. This early training can get in the way of our being able to see clearly for ourselves. Some of it, while not subtle in the least, comes in through popular media, so it’s seen as “true” and “real”. For example: many of the bad characters in Disney comics and movies for years and years, had dark skin, while the good guys were all light skinned. Hello, a little programming, anyone?

You can have your own ability to see clearly back again, if you want to that is. The deal with seeing what’s really going on is, now that you can see clearly, what do you do with what you are seeing?

Clairvoyance is a human ability, a natural ability that we humans are born with. Using your own clairvoyance is like being a detective. It’s being able to ask questions about what you are seeing, and to look at the answers without judging them. People who look directly right through you are unnerving. People who don’t play by the social niceties are sometimes uncomfortable to be around.

Nobody will see what is right in front of them if they do not want to do so.

Can you see the following people clearly: your boss, teachers, family, good friends, local government officials? Do you have permission to see authority figures clearly? As we have seen by the economic collapse in the U.S. in recent years, it pays to see clearly. Oh yes, and that war in Iraq that we were lied to about, and the health insurance industry’s abuses, and so on. These are some of the many reasons why it’s hard to see clearly. Because now that you can see all of this, what do you do about it?

Our spiritual evolution now is all about seeing clearly, as well as being seen. We are living in a time of clairvoyance. What do you want to see for yourself? How about being able to see your own strengths and power clearly? How about being able to see others for who they really are? Once you begin to do this, you won’t want to put the blinders on yourself again.

There is none so blind as those who will not see. ~Jeremiah, Chapter 5: Verse 21

What if there was a clairvoyance app?

What if there was an app for your smart phone or iPad that allowed you to see the energy of others more clearly?

You could also use this app anytime you wanted to see the energy of a situation better, in order to confidently make your own decisions. Another thing this amazing app would do is help you to create a vision or picture of how you want to be, and how you want your life to look. To top it off, this app works instantly, without any effort, and is fun too!

You already have an ‘app’ like this, built into your own energy system. This is your clairvoyance, which is a human ability, and a valuable tool. You’ve used this tool many times in your life, without effort or judgment. You’ve used it because it’s yours, it’s natural for you and because you could. From the time you were a baby, your clairvoyance was available to you.

If you had the permission to use this when you were a child, you could see clearly without judging this ability. If it wasn’t safe in your environment to look, or if others didn’t want to be seen, or couldn’t have their own abilities, you may have forgotten that you have this treasure within you. You might have believed the lies that psychic abilities are not real because science doesn’t believe that they are, or because they don’t make sense to everyone.

If you allow others to decide what you are allowed to see, you give this power to them instead of keeping it for yourself and learning how to develop it. You effectively hand over your free will to choose to see clearly. You agree with what everyone has decided is real for you.

If you decide that you want to look for yourself, you can do so. You may want to avoid needing others to agree with you or validate what you are seeing. Just begin by looking for yourself. The more you practice this without judging what you see, and without needing to solve or fix anything, or explain it to anyone else, the easier it will be for you to see the energy that is always around and in everything and everyone.

Including yourself – the greatest use of clairvoyance is to see yourself clearly. If you can begin to see you and the energy you are in clearly, it’s easier to create what you really want to have. If you can really look and begin to see and to know what is your own truth, you can clear out blocks that stop you from moving forward, and create from a sense of working from your own true purpose. You can use your clairvoyance to heal yourself and your life.

Clairvoyance tops the list for 2011

Every year has its own flavor, its own special energy that defines that year. The past 10 years have been, energetically speaking, very active years.

Though 2010 was not seen as an easy year by many people, it was a great year for the energies of destruction, letting go, completion, and clearing out old karma. Before the new can be created, the old must be swept away to make room for it. And so evolution continues.

Have you learned to embrace the mess yet? I hope so, because if you have, you will be especially ready for the coming year. 2011 is bringing a whole new vibe with it, and if you are here now, you’ve agreed to be with this new energy. This is an amazing time to be alive, a great time in our evolution as human beings. There is so much opportunity to create a new world now. Are you in?

Look for these ten to be especially big in the coming year of 2011:

1. Clairvoyance ~ This is a human ability, and a psychic ability; the ability to see energy clearly. Since everyone and everything is made of energy, this is a convenient ability to have on and working. Clairvoyance works better when you can see without judgment, especially while looking at yourself. In fact, the greatest use of clairvoyance is to see yourself clearly. If you can do that, without judgment, and with a lot of love and forgiveness, nothing will stand in your way. This is a spiritual super power!

2. Value ~ We are reexamining the meaning of what has value. Our economy obliged us in this quest by exploding, resulting in the loss of jobs, and lowering the value of labor, real estate, and money. Does that make our value as human beings less, or has it helped us to see more clearly what has true value for us?

3. Consciousness ~ Yes, consciousness is one of the most important energies for 2011. It’s time to see through the fog, and become aware of what’s possible, instead of accepting what others say is possible. If you do one big thing for yourself in 2011, allow yourself to become aware of your own true strength, abilities, and power. You’ll never go back to being unconscious about those again.

4. Truth ~ As in, your own. Do you know what that is? Do you want to know, and to live in it? This is your business alone, and not up to anyone else. Nor do others have the right to judge what is true for you.

5. Love ~ Love is an energy, an ability, and a healing for you when you have it for yourself. To learn to love yourself is one of the greatest gifts you can give, to yourself and others.

6. Happiness ~ Another great choice to make, daily. Happiness is an energy, a feeling, a way of life, a way to be and become. Happiness is of the spirit.

7. Healing ~ All healing is self healing. You can learn how to heal yourself, and then do it. All of the other energies on this list can help you to do this. In fact, just by asking yourself what you need to do to heal, and listening, you are on a healing path.

8. Forgiveness ~ is all about letting go, releasing old energy, getting into present time, clearing karma, dropping old burdens, so that you can be here now and create anew. Forgiveness is freedom.

9. Reinvention ~ Now that you’ve let go, destroyed the old, forgiven, decided to be happy, learned to love yourself, and started seeing clearly, what does it look like to be the you, that you want to become? What do you look like in that picture? It’s time for reinvention, baby! Dream big!

10. Peace ~ If each of us decided to carry this energy with us at least part of every day, not only would our own individual loads be lighter, we’d also be bringing healing energy with us, wherever we went.

Happy New Year to you! May 2011 bring you happiness, love, peace, and joy! Dream big in this new year!

The making of a psychic

I am often asked, how did I first know I was psychic? How did I become a psychic? Was I born that way? The short answer is: yes, and you were too.

Since I was very small, I was aware of energy, though I didn’t think this was unusual. I accepted it as normal, and how things are, just as many kids do. I could feel energies from other people, and often took their energy on as my own. I could walk into a room and know what everyone in there needed and how I could heal or help them. I became responsible, and tried to heal everyone’s pain.

In 4th grade, while sitting in my Catholic school classroom, I suddenly knew that I was being lied to. I knew that this religion wasn’t my answer, and so I began looking for what was. The neighborhood I grew up in wasn’t conducive to the idea of having a career as a psychic, or thinking outside of the box in any way. This was just at the end of the 1960′s, and change was only beginning to happen. In my neighborhood, ‘psychic’ simply wasn’t an option, and it also wasn’t anything I even thought of doing. But I’d walk over to the drugstore and read all the horoscope magazines they had, which was as close as I could get. I’d also read books on astrology I borrowed from the library, and look for my answers in them.

It wasn’t until I’d nearly reached 30 that I began to wake up to a different way of looking at life and what is ‘real’. I was still looking for my answers, still wondering what else there was. I became interested in natural ways of healing, in herbs, nutrition, and energy. I had my first psychic reading around then, and began to look at things differently. Still, nobody ever told me I was psychic and that I could learn to use my abilities to create my own life.

I knew, somehow, that I could learn to heal myself, and that there was an answer outside of the western medical model I was raised in. My intuition kept driving me to keep looking. I changed my diet, began taking supplements and herbs, and other things that I hoped would provide me with my answers.

It wasn’t until years later that I found a meditation class and learned how to ground myself. This was a mind blowing experience! After years of grounding everyone else and healing them with my energy, I could now have grounding for myself anytime I chose to do so. I was safe enough to let go of all of that energy I’d been saddling myself with.

The energy I’d taken on was making me sick, literally. I always had the latest cold or bug going around, and my energy levels weren’t as good as they’d been when I was younger. After learning how to ground myself, and that maybe it wasn’t my job to sponge everyone’s pain up, I began to notice a marked difference in how my own energy was feeling.

After completing a six week Psychic Meditation Class, which is the very class I regularly teach now, I joined the clairvoyant training at a school in Chicago now known as InVision. The information and techniques I learned in this training validated my own abilities, which were there the whole time, just waiting to be discovered. More importantly, I learned how to heal myself at a deep level, and to safely let go of many of the blocks in my way. I learned how to see myself more clearly, which is the greatest use of clairvoyance.

Today, many years after graduating from clairvoyant training, I work full time as a psychic reader, healer, teacher, speaker, and writer. I am still an artist, but stepped away from my art career in order to fully commit myself to this path. In doing so, I discovered how much I like to write, and am presently working on my first book.

What made all the difference for me was being told that I am psychic, and that I could learn to use my abilities so that they would work for me. As a teacher, I constantly see people who are finding more of themselves, healing themselves, and clearing out blocks that have stopped them from having their own lives. Once they have become more conscious of their own energy, they want more of it. Grounding is a great first step onto this path.

For each of us, there is a different answer, because we are each unique. Each one needs to find his or her path. It helps to get some tools to assist you in your own search. Grounding is one of the best tools I know of in that search. I teach grounding, and I write about it frequently. For more about this technique, see my posts on Meditation.

Curiosity and the clairvoyant

Can you imagine going through your life without a sense of wonder? It’s the human ability to wonder that makes it possible to discover, invent, create, and learn.

Clairvoyance is made richer and more powerful by the ability to be curious. Curiosity is one of the greatest tools a clairvoyant has to work with. A beginning clairvoyant is taught to open up that sense, to begin asking questions like, “I wonder what this is that I’m seeing?”, or “I wonder what comes next?”.

Like a detective who is open to discovery, looking but not expecting, curiosity helps you become an explorer, a creator, an inventor. Curiosity can be used to see from a place of neutrality, non-judgment. If you expect to see something, it may be difficult to see something else. You might be in judgment about what you WILL see, and forget to be open to what you ARE seeing. If what you are seeing doesn’t make sense to you and you go into judgment about it, zap!, that quickly you are no longer looking from your clairvoyance.

Remember the last time you got lost and discovered something or someplace new as a result? You’d never have found that thing without being lost in the first place. Sometimes spiritual growth works that way too. You have to be willing to be lost in order to find a treasure.

If the treasure is you, and you are willing to look as a curious detective might, without judgment but with plenty of wonder, you will be amazed at what you find. You are much more than you might be able or willing to see right now. Curiosity and wonder will help you find the parts of you that you didn’t even know were missing.

What you can see depends on what you are looking for

A clairvoyant would tell you that you are not going to see something you don’t want to see.

You will have a unique way of looking, a different viewpoint from anyone else, and if it’s hard to validate your own viewpoint, it can seem unreal to you. If you can see yourself clearly, with kindness and compassion, you can more easily become what you want to be.

If you re looking for people who are in love with life, that is who you’ll see. If you are looking for people who feel hopeless and think there is nothing that can be done to change that, yep, you’ll find them too. If you’re looking for someone to heal, they will show up. If you know that people are essentially good, you’ll find it in each one you meet, even if others don’t or can’t.

If you’re looking for beauty, you’ll find it in every minute detail around you, and in the most unlikely places. If you want to see the magic that exists in the world, you’ll see it everywhere. If you know in your heart that it is possible to have validating trustworthy friends, they will arrive. If you believe you can’t have friends, you’ll see emptiness.

If you believe you have no value, people will arrive to reinforce that feeling. As soon as you see that you actually do have value, different people will show up, validating ones. Maybe the ones who invalidated you actually helped you to find your value. Wouldn’t it be fun to write them a thank you note? The worst thing you could do is irritate them, but you might also wake them up a little with your gratitude.

What if you got up tomorrow consciously deciding to see yourself as an amazing, healthy, talented, powerful, happy being? How about if every time you look in the mirror, you expect to see beauty and joy? Why not decide to see all of you, as you are, with love and acceptance? If you can accept the parts that you want to change, it’s a lot easier than denying them, hating them, or resisting them. It’s easier to see who you are if you really want to look.
