One person who chooses to live in truth, gives the world a priceless gift. When one person has the courage to do this, others are encouraged to do the same.
When one person looks fear in the face and walks forward anyway, others find they also have the will to take a step forward.
Each of us has our own truth to find. There are also universal truths, including love, peace, freedom, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness, to name a few.
By speaking from his own truth, Martin Luther King was able to inspire each of us to find ours. He saw the possibilities of what we could create together, if we really wanted to do so, and that together we are powerful. We may think of ourselves as being weak and incapable of making a big difference, so too often we don’t try. Actually, we are frightened of what could happen if we were to step forward and speak out, be seen.
The power of Dr. King’s spirit and words frightened those who would not have change, healing, and peace on earth between all human beings. If we were to rise up and free ourselves, those darker forces ruling over us would be driven away.
It is when we choose to dispel that inner darkness, to make our own light the priority, that we are able to create a new world that is ruled by peace and love, not war, hate, and profits for the few at the expense of the many. It is only by learning to love and accept each other that we can forge a new path, individually and together.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thank you for the inspiration.
Ahh Kris…I do so love the way you put things so eloquently and succinctly. Love your clean layout too! My blog is so busy and all over the place. I need to hone in tighter to my truth, eh?

Thank you, Shoshana. I find myself being even more inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. these days!
I’m also in the process of creating many more visual changes to this blog, and my main concern is that it’s clean but inviting and colorful. Check back again soon to see what’s shaking here.
